Growing plants inside the house or in small space is called as indoor gardening. Hydroponic indoor gardening makes indoor gardening easy. Hydroponic indoor gardening works on growing plants without soil. The system depends on water to provide food and nutrients to the plants. Hydroponic gardening system provides constant watering, lighting, temperature levels and nutrients.

Hydroponic Grow Lights: Garden Grow Lights play an important role in indoor gardening. The light aids plant growth. Indoor garden can get light either naturally from the sun through the windows or balconies. For plants without direct sunlight, hydroponic grow lights come in handy. Choosing the type of light depend on the plant type and the budget. High intensity discharge lights are effective but are expensive. Further they take a long period to stabilize the intensity and color emitted. Fluorescent Grow Lights are cheaper but not effective. Though the light produced is not enough, it is preferred in many houses due to the cost effectiveness and low heat emission. This system also encourages the use of reflectors and light movers to improve the lighting.

Growing medium: The growing medium supplies water and nutrients to the plants. Further they help to anchor the roots. Some hydroponic systems use no medium, but simply allow the plant’s root to be suspended in water or air. But other types require a medium with equal amount of water and oxygen. Coconut fiber, pebbles or grow rocks are the most preferred mediums as they allow the water to circulate constantly.

Hydroponic nutrients: The main advantage of hydroponic indoor gardening is that it completely controls the nutrition supplied to the plants, which is not possible in soil based growing. The growing medium by itself does not contain any nutrients. A hydroponic nutrient solution is added to the water. The main nutrients of this system are Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. By varying the three ingredients, a perfect nutrient suitable for the plant type is prepared.

Hydroponic indoor gardening increases the efficiency and also gives a greater yield. The perfect control of light water and temperature improves the taste of the fruits and vegetables produced by this method.
